The Lancaster Traffic and Transportation Club was organized in 1971. The founding officers and board members were Ted R. Rhyne - Pres., James E. Baker - V.P., Wally Wachta - Tres., and Frank Evans - Sec. These men represented industry and transportation interest in the Lancaster, Columbia and Charlotte areas. The club steadily grew over the years with members drawn from all areas of both of the Carolinas, and in 1985, the name changed to Carolina Traffic and Transportation Club (CTTC).
The Carolina Traffic & Transportation Club has representation of shippers, transportation providers of all modes, 3PL companies, consultants, government agencies, and others who serve the area and beyond. CTTC holds frequent functions that feature industry leaders and experts discussing issues and trends, best practices and lessons learned. The CTTC maintains a commitment to diversity and welcomes persons of all backgrounds who share a common interest in transportation.
Since 2002, the CTTC has held annual golf tournaments that exclusively benefit the Lancaster Children's Home. The golf outing takes place in May of each year and is held at the Lancaster Golf Club in Lancaster, SC .
The annual event has become very popular throughout the area among industry professionals. In honor of his long time support, the Golf Outing was named the Emerson Ellis Memorial Golf Tournament.
